All opinions are mine alone.#DropShopAndOil #CollectiveBiasI am constantly being asked how I get so much done in a day while working from home and having three young boys. First, it may seem like I accomplish a lot but trust me my house is not always clean and my laundry room has more dirty clothes than clean clothes. Second, I have learned to find a good balance in my life to be able to be productive while still having my kids be the main focus of every single day. There are plenty of days where I do not even come close to getting everything done that I have planned, but I do not let it defeat me. Below you will find three tips to help you get more done in less time every day.
Get More Done in Less Time:
1. Plan Ahead - This is extremely important if you want to get more done in less time. Without a plan you could potentially waste a lot of time every day. I like to plan each day to figure out what I need to get done and when I can get it done. With two of my boys in preschool I am constantly on the go, so I try to plan ahead to make sure I have enough time to complete each task that I need to do for that day.I always like to put my biggest priorities first and try to schedule around those. Since they are the most important I try to get them out of the day as soon as possible.2. Make a List - I am a huge list maker. Not only do I love having everything written out so that I can focus on what needs to be done, but it is also necessary so that I do not forget anything. I honestly put EVERYTHING in the notes section on my iPhone. It is my saving grace. Any kind of list or 'to-do' item is in there. I also use Asana for both my personal and blogging tasks and I have that app on my phone as well. I know it might not be the most organized way to keep track of everything I need to do, but I always have my cell phone on me. If I did not have a list then I could be lost!Having a list will help you to see your progress throughout the day and provide motivation because you can visually see what needs to be done. Even if you are not a list maker like me you can still utilize it to help prepare yourself each day to stay focused. It does not have to be anything special, but it will help to keep you organized.3. Multitasking - When I say multi-task I mean it in the simplest form. There are not many people who can actually multi-task, and often times when you are trying to do more than two things at a time you are less productive than if you would have focused on one task. Think of how you can lessen your load by lumping in your errands without having to drive to several places. For example, consider getting your oil changed, taxes done, purchasing groceries and many more tasks by going to your local Walmart. Not only can you save time, but you can save money on gas since you are only going to one store and save money on the cost of the oil change. This is exactly what I did this week! Car maintenance is never really at the top of my list, but it does need to be done. It felt good to get my oil changed {which was way past due as you can see from the picture below!} and be able to get the groceries on my shopping list. Anything to give me more time in my day that I can spend with my kids is a huge bonus to me.
Normally this is a job that my husband handles so I was a little unsure of what to expect, but since I was heading to Walmart I thought it would be best to get it out of the way while I shopped.I do know that choosing the right oil is the most important part. Since I am constantly running around and putting a lot of miles on my car I chose to use Pennzoil Platinum oil since it would help clean out sludge lesser oils leave behind.
Best cleanliness and protection in the Pennzoil line-up. With PurePlus™ Technology, the Platinum® motor oil is proven to keep pistons up to 40% cleaner than the toughest industry standard. PurePlus™ Technology is a revolutionary process that converts natural gas into a 99.5% pure base oil.
I loved the convenience of knocking off two items on my list quickly without having to go to two different places. This is extremely important to me because it is pretty rare that I do not have my boys when I am running errands, and they can only handle being a store for so long before someone has a melt down.I will admit I do not always get to everything on my list each day. There are plenty of days were I feel extremely unproductive, but there are other days where I have cleaned the house, put away laundry, have dinner in the crockpot, answered emails, wrote a post and got my kids ready for the day by 8am. I hope these three tips will help you to get more sone in less time every day.Enter to WIN: 3 lucky winners will each win a trip to one of the Richard Petty Driving Experiences (each trip valued at $1,100).
