5 Ways to Save Money on Utilities:
1. Lower or raise the thermostat by a few degrees (depending on the season). Wear long sleeves and pants in the house if you are cold and wear less clothing when it feels too warm. This little change can save a lot of money over the course of a year.2. Conserve water when possible.
If everyone in the house shortens their showers by 5 minutes each, this can lead to significant savings.
Turn off the water while brushing your teeth. If you use a tissue to blow your nose, throw it in the trash instead of flushing it down the toilet. These little changes add up to big savings. You may not realize how much water you actually waste.3. Purchase or make under door draft stoppers. You can lose a lot of heat or cool air through the gap between your door and floor. This is like money literally going right out the door! These draft stoppers slide under the door and fill the gap, saving you money in the process.
Or, you can even try a towel or another item you have around your house.4. Install a ceiling fan. It allows air to circulate throughout the room. This helps to cool the room in the summer and also circulate warm air from the heat in the winter. It's also a lot cheaper to run which will save you money as well.5. Late fees are can range between $15 and $30 each time you are late on a bill. Set up auto-pay on your utility bills and you will never be late on a payment again.
Depending on how forgetful you are, this can save you a lot of money!
Be sure to calculate this payment into your monthly budget. You can also print out this free bill tracker to help prevent you from making late payments.
