5 Tips for Getting More Things Done Every Day
Are you one of those people who are constantly wondering how someone accomplishes so much every single day? I feel like I am always getting asked, “how do you do it?” To me, it is just a normal day.Not to toot my own horn, but I am a very productive person. You will never find me just lounging around watching TV all day {unless I am sick}. Even as a stay at home Mom of three boys I can get a lot done every day. So, today, I wanted to share with you my tips and tricks for getting MORE done every single day. PrioritizeThis is single-handedly the most important item on this list that will help you get more done every day. Whether it comes to blogging or home life I always prioritize my tasks. Figure out your most important tasks everyday and then work everything else out around them. This way you are accomplishing what actually needs to be done every day.To make it easy you can even place 1,2,3 next to each one in order from most important to least important. Not only will it help you to focus, but you can then plan your day around your priorities.Plan AheadThis is one of the key ways that I get more done every single day. I always make a plan the night before. Without a plan you could waste so much of your time everyday figuring out what you should be doing. I like to plan each day to figure out what my priorities are and when I can get them done. I do this when I sit down in bed every night. I take out my phone and use the notes section and write my to-do list and then prioritize it. This helps me to focus on all the tasks I need to do without having distractions.Have a ScheduleI always like to know what my schedule will be each day. If I have 5 tasks that need to be done I will create a schedule to figure out what time of the day I can fit in each task. Between Kindergarten and driving back and forth to Preschool my days are pretty hectic. So, I use my priorities to create my schedule. You can use my Family Daily Planner or my Printable To-Do List to help you figure your schedule each day.Avoid DistractionsOnce you have your priorities and you have created a schedule for your day it is important to try to avoid as many distractions as you can. Try to have a strategy to avoid distractions. One way that I do this is by leaving my phone in a different room. My cell phone is my number one distraction. As soon as I see a notification pop-up I feel compelled to view it. This definitely prevents me from completing the task at hand.As a stay at home Mom this can be difficult because I have my three boys with me while I am trying to get everything done. But, that does not mean that it is impossible. This is one of the places that I think many people fail to accomplish what needs to be done everyday. They get in this mindset that they cannot do it because _____.Try not to make excuses. I always say to myself, “Just figure it out.” Even if I do get distracted I get right back on schedule and push forward throughout my day.No MultitaskingWhen I say multi-task I mean it in the simplest form. A task that could take you 10 minutes to accomplish may end up taking an hour and a half because you are trying to do more than one thing like answer emails and texting. There are not many people who can actually multi-task, and often times when you are trying to do more than two things at a time you are less productive than if you would have focused on one task. Plus, when you are multitasking you have a greater chance of making mistakes which will then cause you to use more time to fix.I recommend completing one task and then moving on. For me, this really helps my productivity rate when I am on my computer. What tips do you have for getting more things done every day?
