2014 Kia Soul Review - Feel Young Again
As you all know I am a Mom of three little boys. I seriously NEVER go anywhere without a kid, or two or even three with me. It is extremely RARE for me to be in a car alone. So, when I planned to attend my first blogging conference a few hours away I was thrilled to find out that I would have the opportunity to enjoy driving a 2014 Kia Soul ... ALL BY MYSELF! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being with my boys, but sometimes it is nice to turn up the music and just cruise. The Kia Soul was the perfect car for this.Even though my boys still came with me on my little road trip they were in a different vehicle, so I had to capture their excitement!
2014 Kia Soul Review
I was a little hesitant at first as to what to expect with the Kia Soul. I have never been really fond of the boxy exterior of the car and it seemed very small to me. But, you should never judge a book by its cover. Even though I knew I would not be able to fit three car seat into the backseat like the Kia Sorento I was anxious to test out the Kia Soul for a week.
You know what it is like when you get a new vehicle and you cannot contain your excitement so you try out every seat in the car? Well, that is what I did.
The Kia Soul may not appear to have a lot of room from the outside with it's sleek body, but surprisingly it is rather large on the inside. Trust me, I sat in every seat to get the full effect of the vehicle. When we are purchasing a new vehicle I like to make sure that it is a great car for everyone to ride in, not just the driver or passenger. Now that we have a family it is important to take the time to be sure that it has everything we need and that it meets all safety requirements. It is nice to know that the 2014 Kia Soul earned NHTSA 5-Star Safety Rating. The Kia Soul is packed full of options and features. The first thing that I noticed when getting into the Kia Soul was the amazing panoramic sun roof. It really lets in the sunlight.
The Kia Soul had plenty of room in the back for my luggage and other travel items. You also have the option of folding the backseats down if you need more space.
Favorite Features: 2014 Kia Soul
- Heated and ventilated front seats - It may not seem important to some people to have cooled seats but when you are driving in a car for several hours in direct sunlight this is an awesome feature to have. My normal vehicle has leather seats and I hate how sticky and hot I feel throughout the Summer driving in it. Also, it gets pretty cool at night here so I did use the heated seats as well. I was pleased with how warm they got and stayed.
- Eight inch touchscreen navigation system with bluetooth wireless technology and rear camera display - Not only do I love having a back-up camera, but this navigation system was a lifesaver for my road trip. I loved the fact that it was touchscreen and easy to use to navigate to my conference.
- Infinity Audio system with speaker lights - I know it may sound cheesy, but with the audio system and the speaker lights I felt like a teenager again!
- Handsfree - being able to talk on the phone handsfree is not only safer but much easier.
- Power folding side mirrors
After driving the Kia Soul for more than 8 hours I can honestly say that it was comfortable and had all the little gadgets I would want in a vehicle. It is still difficult for me to get used to the start button instead of the normal key and ignition start, but I was much better with it this time than the last time I drove a Kia.
I was very impressed with the mpg for my trip for a five passenger vehicle. My normal vehicle will only get about 16mpg on the highway so it was nice to be getting about 27mpg. I truly enjoyed driving the Kia Soul. I was a little worried about driving a car that I am not familiar with on a long trip, but I quickly got use to the Soul and was very pleased with the entire package of the car. If you are looking for a nice 5-passenger vehicle full of lots of gadgets, or you just want a car that will make you feel young again then take a look at the 2014 Kia Soul.Disclosure: I was provided the 2014 Kia Soul from Drive STI for a week for this review. All opinions are 100% mine.
