10 Items you Should NOT buy at a Drugstore {unless you have a coupon!}

The local drugstore has become somewhat of a convenience store. You can buy pretty much anything, from food to toilet tissue, but there are some things you should never purchase when you are there. Most drugstores are overpriced and in some cases an outright rip off. I prefer dollar stores, warehouse stores, and big box stores to save money on drugstore prices. Unless you have coupons or the store has a great sale I would avoid buying certain items because you can find them for much cheaper at other local stores. Here are 10 things that you should NOT buy at a drugstore.1. School supplies - Sometimes you can find a deal, but if you are just going in to get a few items that you need you may end up paying the double the amount.2. Paper goods - Unless there is a really awesome deal and you have a coupon!3. Laundry detergent - Although it may seem like it is on sale or a good deal most times the size of the item is much smaller than normal.4. Beauty products - This can be really hard to resist. Most drugstores carry a lot of great beauty items!5. Over the counter drugs

6. Prescription drugs - I have found that our prescriptions are normally cheaper at our local grocery store. This may not be true for you, or you may not be able to use certain store because of your health insurance.7. Food8. Pet supplies9. Appliances10. Cleaning supplies

All of the things on this list can be found in most drugstores. You are paying for the convenience when you buy at a drugstore.  However, you can save a ton of money by checking out warehouse stores like BJ’s and Costco, big box stores like Target and Walmart and my personal favorite, your local dollar store. Shopping elsewhere for these 10 things that you should NOT buy at a drugstore, will save you money and your wallet will thank you!
